This Snake Charm performance, titled "It's Raining Blood and the Body Parts of Men" (31mb mp3), was recorded on Philip von Zweck's Something Else Radio Program (netpolitics warning: it's a myspace link) on July 1st 2007.
"It's Raining Blood and the Body Parts of Men" contains some remixes of songs from my "Boojie Throbber" CD released on the mighty Crippled Intellect label and some new material as well.
When I was working on the set before the performance all my source material was coming out really angry. I kept fighting it, trying to make it pretty. I gave up after a few days and just sort of let it take its course. I realized, driving home from the show, that this anger stems from a feeling of hopelessness I have over this era we live in right now. I had this totally great time hanging out with Philip at the radio station after the performance - some great, super inspiring conversation (thanks man!). I think it took a few hours of just relaxing and talking about art and music to sort of loosen up and think about the ways I cope with things that are outside of my control. It's starting to look like me putting holes through speakers is one of them.
Much thanks to Philip von Zweck and WLUW for hosting performances most would consider unlistenable.
